Abstract
A group of amplitude and frequency modulated signals which generate narrow synthesized pulses and which also have smoothly
varying phase are described. The frequency-sweep (chirp) signals have exactly-defined frequency content and differentiable phase.
These signals can be used with efficient resonant transducers, if the resonant frequency is adjustable, and they have adequate
Doppler response for use with drifting apparatus.
