Abstract
Benthic invertebrate communities, that the highly productive US West Coast fishery species and marine mammals rely on for food, are being increasingly impacted by low oxygen conditions. This project addresses the potential ecological consequences of a new member to these benthic communities, the ghost shrimp Neotrypaea. The first three cruises for this project (sampling stations provided herein) were conducted to ground-truth predictions of Neotrypaea’s new offshore distribution with video and sample collections. Samples collected on these cruises will be used to assess whether the species compositions of various areas on the Oregon and Washington shelf are altered by the recruitment of Neotrypaea. For a complete list of measurements, refer to the full dataset description in the supplemental file 'Dataset_description.pdf'.
