The Special Committee on Oceanographic Research (SCOR) has endorsed an international cooperative program of oceanographic research and survey work in the Indian Ocean for the near future. 1961 is the year most often referred to. Although a number of features of the plans must necessarily be made on a high international executive level, it also seems desirable that oceanographers on a working level - who actually think they might be interested or involved in the work at sea - should exchange ideas and suggestions, and make tentative plans of just what they would like to try to do in the Indian Ocean. For this purpose, THE INDIAN OCEAN BUBBLE has been established, as an informal journal for exchanging views and ideas.

Multidecadal Indian Ocean variability linked to the Pacific and implications for preconditioning Indian Ocean dipole events Ummenhofer, Caroline C.; Biastoch, Arne; Böning, Claus W. (American Meteorological Society, 2017-02-15)The Indian Ocean has sustained robust surface warming in recent decades, but the role of multidecadal variability remains unclear. Using ocean model hindcasts, characteristics of low-frequency Indian Ocean temperature ...
Schmitz, William J. (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, 1996-12)This is the second and final volume of a report that describes some of my investigations over the last 35 years or so into low-frequency ocean current structures, a topic which I will call the World Ocean Circulation ...
Reconstructing the thermal structure of the upper ocean : insights from planktic foraminifera shell chemistry and alkenones in modern sediments of the tropical eastern Indian Ocean Mohtadi, Mahyar; Oppo, Delia W.; Luckge, Andreas; De Pol-Holz, Ricardo; Steinke, Stephan; Groeneveld, Jeroen; Hemme, Nils; Hebbeln, Dierk (American Geophysical Union, 2011-09-10)Shell chemistry of planktic foraminifera and the alkenone unsaturation index in 69 surface sediment samples in the tropical eastern Indian Ocean off West and South Indonesia were studied. Results were compared to modern ...
