Description of W.H.O.I. rock dredge samples : volume II
    (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, 1986-09) Broda, James E. ; Andrew, P. J.
This report is Volume II in the series of reports entitled "DESCRIPTIONS OF W.H.O.I. ROCK DREDGE SAMPLES". This volume represents the final step in the major effort to catalog and prepare initial descriptions for all rock dredge samples in the W.H.O.I. Sea Floor Samples Collection, and to distribute this information throughout the scientific community. The distribution of this report completes the initial description of the backlog of W.H.O.I. Dredge Samples. The data contained in this volume is an accumulation and transcription of initial descriptions made at sea, along with post-cruise descriptions performed at the lab by the curatorial staff. Volume II contains individual stations executed during the period 1963 through 1986. It also presents a digitized listing of all dredge station data for the entire W.H.O.I. Dredge Collection through 1986. The data are sorted by Marsden Squares and can serve as a regional index for all rock descriptions included in Volumes I-III.

Descriptions of W.H.O.I. rock dredge samples : volume IV
    (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, 1990-12) Mills, P. B. ; Andrew, P. J.
This report is Volume IV in the series of reports entitled "Descriptions of W.H.O.I. Rock Dredge Samples." This volume is dedicated to rock samples recovered by DSV Alvin between 1971 - 1982 and includes data for all rock samples beginning with Alvin 338 and ending with Alvin 1247. The data contained in this volume is an accumulation and transcription of initial descriptions made at sea, along with post-cruise descriptions performed at the lab by the curtorial staff. Volumes I - III contain data from all W.H.O.I. dredging cruises up to 1986. Volume IV presents a digitized listing of all station data for the entire W.H.O.I. dredge/rock collection though 1986. The data in this listing are sorted by Marsden Square and can thus serve as a regional index for all rock samples included in Volumes I - IV.

In-situ measurement of thermal conductivity using the continuous-heating line source method and WHOI outrigged probe
    (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, 1985-08) Jemsek, John P. ; von Herzen, Richard P. ; Andrew, P. J.
The outrigged thermal probes of a "pogo" marine geothermal probe have been adapted to measure thermal conductivity in-situ by the continuous-heating line source technique. The instrumental uncertainty in applying the analytical theory to a single-probe and double-probe configuration is found to be 3 and 6 percent, respectively. The in-situ outrigged single probe <.32 cm dia.) is essentially a scaled-up version of the needle probe (.08 cm dia.). The main advantage of the outrigged probe over a larger radius probe

Descriptions of WHOI sediment cores, volume 7
    (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, 1985-02) Broda, James E. ; Andrew, P. J.
This report supplements Volumes 1-6 of the core descriptions published previously in this sequence (Johnson and Driscoll, 1975; 1977; Broda, Franks, and Keith, 1981). It contains visual descriptions and smear slide analyses for all cores received in the geological samples collection of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution between mid-1980 and mid~l984. Approximately 240 sample localities from the North Atlantic, South Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific Oceans are represented. Charts of ships' tracks and updated computer listings of all cores in the W.H.O.I. collection are also included.
