Description
Papers presented at the 50th Annual Conference of the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers (IAMSLIC), and the AFRIAMSLIC Regional Group. The conference was held in Alexandria, Egypt, and held both in person and virtually. The theme this year was “Shining a Light”, which took inspiration from the Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Lighthouse lit the way for generations of sailors seeking an entry into the Great Harbor of Alexandria, just as libraries, information centers, and IAMSLIC also shine a light on the world, guiding navigation of the vast ocean of knowledge, particularly in relation to ocean and fisheries studies. This year’s conference program featured invited guests from NIOF and the AFRIAMSLIC region, and presentations from members of IAMSLIC from around the globe. Topics were wide-ranging, and included STEM information literacy, digital asset management, the NFIRRI Library in Uganda, the role of NIFFR Library in Nigeria, and personal data protection.
