dc.description.abstract | This cruise report provides a record of data collected aboard the SSV Robert C. Seamans during Cruise S-201 (U.S. State Department Cruise 2005-82). The cruise track of S-201 (Figure 1, Table 1) took the vessel from San Diego north to the Channel Islands before turning offshore and south. Sailing south, the first landfall was made inshore of the Solidad Basin before clearing the headland at Cabo San Lazaro. The tip of Baja was then rounded and we made port at La Paz. After the port stop we carved a ‘z’ pattern across the southern Gulf of California before proceeding offshore to an anchorage at Isla San Benedicto. The final miles took us east to Puerto Vallarta. The cruise participants are listed in Table 2. Student projects aboard S-201 are listed in Table 3. During the six week voyage we collected samples or data at 83 discrete oceanographic stations (Appendix A), and 48 surface stations (Appendix B). Summaries of sediment collections are listed in Appendix C. Chemical properties with depth are contained in Appendix C. The CTD information is listed in Appendix D. Summaries of sediment collections are listed in Appendix E. Summaries of biological net samples are contained in Appendix F. The CTD data of temperature, salinity, density as well as T-S diagrams and available fluormeter profiles are illustrated in Appendix G. Figure 2 indicates the composite T-S diagram for all CTDs on the voyage. Figure 3 is the surface current magnitude and direction recorded by the ADCP. | en |
