Abstract
Description
Correspondence consisting of one page typescript letters on Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution letterhead and three page handwritten letter conveying belief that the TITANIC should not be raised. Based on the latest findings from the July 1986 expedition Dr. Robert Ballard conveys that he is even more convinced that any salvage attempts would be futile and foolish. The TITANIC lies partially buried in the mud on the ocean floor, encrusted with rust and coral; much of the beautiful wood and luxurious ornamentation for which she was famous no longer exists.
