This data set includes water column inorganic nutrient and dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) concentration and nitrate+nitrite d15N and d18O and DON δ15N measurements from May 2017 and May 2018 cruises in the North/Central Gulf of Mexico that were used together with sinking particulate N data to construct δ15N budgets.
For a complete list of measurements, refer to the full dataset description in the supplemental file 'Dataset_description.pdf'. The most current version of this dataset is available at: https://www.bco-dmo.org/dataset/834984

Mesozooplankton wet, dry, carbon and nitrogen biomass and isotope data collected in the oceanic Gulf of Mexico on R/V Nancy Foster cruises NF1704 and NF1802 in May 2017 and May 2018
Landry, Michael R. (Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO). Contact: bco-dmo-data@whoi.edu, 2021-01-12)This dataset is from zooplankton net tows in the Gulf of Mexico on R/V Nancy Foster cruises in May 2017 and May 2018, which were part of a NOAA RESTORE project (aka: BLOOFINZ-GoM) led by Dr. John Lamkin to investigate the ... -
Using carbon isotope fractionation to constrain the extent of methane dissolution into the water column surrounding a natural hydrocarbon gas seep in the northern Gulf of Mexico
Leonte, Mihai; Wang, Binbin; Socolofsky, Scott A.; Mau, Susan; Breier, John A.; Kessler, John D. (American Geophysical Union, 2018-10-20)A gas bubble seep located in the northern Gulf of Mexico was investigated over several days to determine whether changes in the stable carbon isotopic ratio of methane can be used as a tracer for methane dissolution through ... -
Petrocarbon evolution: Ramped pyrolysis/oxidation and isotopic studies of contaminated oil sediments from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Rogers, Kelsey L.; Bosman, Samantha H.; Lardie Gaylord, Mary C.; McNichol, Ann P.; Rosenheim, Brad E.; Montoya, Joseph P.; Chanton, Jeffrey P. (Public Library of Science, 2019-02-28)Hydrocarbons released during the Deepwater Horizon (DWH) oil spill weathered due to exposure to oxygen, light, and microbes. During weathering, the hydrocarbons’ reactivity and lability was altered, but it remained ...
