Depth Profiles

Permanent URI for this collection

These depth profiles are datasets showing depth as a function of time sampled at 1 Hz. Each profile is formatted as a simple text file that shows a list of depths. Times are not shown, but can be determined from the sampling rate (1 Hz) and the start time given in the metadata. The first depth listed was taken at 0 seconds, the second at 1 second, the third at 2 seconds, etc., after the start time. When plotted (e.g., in matlab or excel), depth profiles can convey important information about the behavior of the tagged animal. Different dive patterns could reflect different foraging techniques, or physiological capabilities. Look at depth profiles in the context of their metadata. Species, location, and time of day are important variables when observing behavior.
