There is also additional information about the models, particularly how well they've been validated in the literature, as well as more information on our experimental set up. We also list the author contributions and provide one additional reference for information provided in the supplementary material. There is a Table file "Suppl_TableS1.pdf" which contains "Table S1" which shows the conversion of the IGSM-TEM plant functional types to those required by the CLM model run within the version of CAM that we employed in our study. There is a Figure file "Suppl_FigS1.pdf containing "Figure S1" which shows a schematic representation of the modeling frameworks we employed in our study. 1. Supplementary_Material_GRL.txt contains information on methods, data, the modification of the land surface in CLM, further details about the models and experiments, author contributions and an additional references for supplementary material. 2. Suppl_TableS1.pdf (Table S1) 2.1. Column "CLM Land cover type", categories of land cover type existing in the land surface model CLM. 2.1. Column "IGSM-TEM veg fitted into CLM categories", the categories of IGSM-TEM vegetation types which have been converted into CLM land cover types. Suppl_TableS1.txt: Converting from 35 TEM land cover/veg types to 17* CLM vegetation types Suppl_TableS1_footnote.txt: * Crop 2 (ÔwheatÕ) is currently uncharacterised (empty) in CLM3.0 3.
