Multipath time-delay estimation via the EM algorithm
MetadataShow full item record
We consider the application of the EM algorithm to the multipath time delay estimation problem. The algorithm is developed for the case of deterministic (known) signals, as well as for the case of wide-sense stationary Gaussian signals.

Weinstein, Ehud (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, 1984-08)This is the second part of a study which deals with the problem of passive time delay estimation. The focus here is on systems employing wideband signals and/or arrays of very widely separated receivers. A modified ...
Segal, Mordechai; Weinstein, Ehud (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, 1988-07)We develop computationally efficient iterative algorithms for finding the Maximum Likelihood estimates of the delay and spectral parameters of a noise-like Gaussian signal radiated from a common point source and observed ...
Estimating a submesoscale diffusivity using a roughness measure applied to a tracer release experiment in the Southern Ocean Boland, Emma J. D.; Shuckburgh, Emily; Haynes, Peter H.; Ledwell, James R.; Messias, Marie-Jose; Watson, Andrew J. (American Meteorological Society, 2015-06)The use of a measure to diagnose submesoscale isopycnal diffusivity by determining the best match between observations of a tracer and simulations with varying small-scale diffusivities is tested. Specifically, the robustness ...
